WELCOME |
|
Zion Lutheran Church has always been an active part of the world community. From sponsoring a missionary in Russia to support of rural ministry, from Lutheran World Relief to providing a community used furniture room, Zion is "a church without walls". Our members recognize the importance of their baptisms and through worship and regular holy communion, believe God's call to discipleship is a call to faith in action. We invite you to worship with us.

We've struggled through the snow, cold, and gray days of January which perhaps remind us too much of our lives -- struggling, slogging -- just to get through. Wondering and longing for joy.
Joy is a gift. It is not a state of being -- we cannot live in constant joy. Why not? We sin, we lose hope, we face rejection. The key is to know which direction to turn when we are totally lost, when the light has gone out and we are plunged into darkness. Rather than a North Star or moss on the tree, we turn to something far more dependable. We turn to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lent is all about the struggle -- the need for repentance, taking a reality check if you will on all we have done and left undone in this life. The disciplines of Lent call us to clear out the garbage in our minds, clean up the dark corners, and spend time in the presence of the Almighty God.
Lent is a gift -- a time to gather our thoughts and concentrate on what is important to our life as God's people. Lent is the joy for which we seek and we find it in simplicity, solitude, and repentance. |
